❄Top things to do in winter❄

As the weather grows colder and our energy levels drop, some of us find it harder to find fun things to do, especially when locked in, counting the days to Christmas!

Online High Street has you covered! Check some of these  simple solo and family activities that we love to partake in during winter!

  1. Breakfast blast! – The best time of the day! ☕

How can you possibly start the day with a smile on your face? Make a big breakfast! Whether it’s for yourself, friends or family, a big breakfast is bound to fill you up with joy and good food.

I would recommend you try some new things for this special breakfast: Strawberry Chai French toast, cranberry brie waffles, caramel pancakes, chili banana chocolate smoothie, walnut pear gorgonzola toast, pumpkin cream cold brew carrot cake oatmeal cookie, kale pesto pasta, plums and cream, breakfast burritos – You name it!

Online High Street has the recipes coming up 😻!

  1. Bonfire time and hot chocolate!

As winter rolls down your alleyway and the cold seeps into your bones, why not start a little bonfire in your garden with some sweet treats to keep you warm?

You can invite friends and family or just relax on your own with a book and a packet of marshmallows and hot cocoa.

Just make sure you take all necessary precautions to avoid burning yourself, your guests or your house. 🔥🍫

  1. Home spa – Nearly Grinchmas style!

Time for some seasonal pampering! Set some time aside with some of your favourite products, Christmas-themed scented soap bars, pumpkin hydrating masks, gorgeous candles and just show your skin some love in these cold months!

Bonus points if you decide to do a Grinch-inspired hairdo and makeup. 😈

  1. Scrapbook for your new year new you era!

In times of stress, it’s always good to write down anything. Don’t wait until the new year rolls in to write down your goals.

Scrapbooking effectively allows you to use all of this years’ memories to have a sensory experience of what you are going through.

Go crazy on the “Live Laugh love” stickers, pictures of your loved ones, selfies, feathers, glitter stamps and scented markers!

  1. Crazy boozy karaoke night

Imagine screaming “All I want for Christmas is you” at the top of your lungs with some mulled wine, truffles and a side of avocado toast?

That is the life!

Rent a booth and go wild with your friends or simply do it at home with the kids or in the shower if you want to!

Prosecco and fairy lights advised! 🎙

  1. Cute wild picnic

When’s the last time you’ve been on a cute little picnic in the outdoors? Not since summer? Let’s remedy to that!

Grab a comfy blanket or two, prepare a few thermos bottles of your favourite drinks, a basket full of bread to feed the birds and yourself, a camera to take pictures of the wild and maybe a little radio to keep you company if you are alone.

Please make sure to clean up after yourself! If you’re good, you might see a deer or a sheep !🐑

  1. Mini-pilgrimage : Visit temples and churches from other faiths.

What I like the most about winter festivities is seeing how happy people are to be with each other. What if winter was not there to isolate us but to unite us?

It cannot hurt to explore other people’s beliefs and beautifully designed buildings. Head off to a Buddhist Temple, a Jewish synagogue, a Hindu Temple, a Muslim Mosque, a Christian Church and many more! For a greater experience, feel free to donate to these places, as sharing is caring.

Please make sure you are well informed of the do’s and dont’s of these places and that you respect all religious beliefs! 🕯

  1. Festive photo booth at home!

Haven’t time to take a picture of the kids with grandma? No worries, set up your own little festive photo booth!

I would recommend you place a lovely throw near your Christmas tree – or a white wall, for those of you who know how to use photoshop! Add some fairy lights, fake crystals, stuffed toys and get  dressed to the nines!

You can use your phone or a camera and edit all the pictures later for a professional touch!

  1. Paint and Sip – crafty time

What’s more fun that a crafty afternoon with a naughty glass of Chardonnay?

I’m still waiting! Set up a little paint and sip workshop and work your afternoon away. Don’t forget to share your pictures to Instagram. (You can tag Online High Street if you want us to judge your masterpieces!)

  1. Festive dressup  party – eggnog, hot cider and hot chocolate bar anyone?

Since you’re inside all day, you have no excuse to not be creative!

Host a little party with your neighbours, friends and colleagues and delight them with a festive-themed bar!

With all these treats and a costume contest, it can be nothing short of good memories and goofy laughs.
